Julia Bruce MSN, RDN, CD
Welcome! Whatever has brought you to my page, I am so glad you are here. A joy of mine is helping others find more hope and peace in their life through compassionate nutrition therapy. Whether you are just starting your journey and unsure what it would look like to feel confidence in your relationship to food and your body, or you have been on it for a while and are looking for some more direction and support, I am happy to help you along.
The types of clients who I work with have
Experienced concerns about nutrition-related lab values or diagnoses they are wondering how to respond due to so much confusing nutrition information out there.
Been stuck in chronic dieting and weight cycling throughout their life and are seeking a different way to approach their health because they are feeling exhausted.
Frequently attempted practicing intuitive eating and/or trying to use intuitive eating as a way to lose weight and they are feeling disappointed.
Used food as a coping mechanism and are feeling stuck and guilty about their choices.
Been feeling shame and guilt after eating certain foods and feeling overwhelmed about their food choices.
Been feeling stuck in binge eating and restricting cycles and are unsure of how to feel more in control of their eating.
My background is in psychology and nutrition science. I really appreciate the value of integrating both compassionate, therapeutic care and addressing emotions and feelings that are connected to our choices alongside evidence-based nutrition education, when helpful and desired.
My passion in this field is working with adolescents and teens who are just starting to explore their relationship with food and their body as well as older adults who have been working on it for decades and are ready to approach food and their body from a different perspective.
“...What if you wake up some day and you never traveled, you didn’t follow your heart’s desires, or you didn't go swimming in those warm pools and oceans because you don’t like how you look; or you were just so consumed by fear, people pleasing, and waiting for the right moment that you forgot to have a big juicy creative life, of imagination and radical silliness like when you were a kid? It's going to break your heart. Don't let this happen.”

Client Testimonial
“My only previous personal experience was being referred to a weight-loss course through Kaiser after asking for dietary support through my health plan. Since this would not help me meet my goals, I sought out care from private practice RDs who care for patients with EDs because I knew that would be a much safer place for me to ask questions and I knew I could trust the answers. I wanted to get nutrition recommendations from a provider who worked from a weight-neutral, HAES perspective, and Julia was amazing!! My goal was knowledge about health and wellness while entering perimenopause without weight stigma and diet culture. I learned a lot about the importance of fiber (and finding ways of getting fiber that are attainable and consistently available) as well as understanding my protein needs. I felt like I had an ally with Julia as she helped me reach my goals with no stigmatizing language about bodies or weight.”
